Here are some screenshots where you can see how the enterprise wiki looks:
If you need to do some common tasks as a site member or site owner please have a look at the following tasks including possible differences between SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010:
SharePoint template functionality
The wiki pages are stored in the pages library:
The pages library is created by the publishing feature.
The pages are using the Enterprise Wiki Page content type:
What’s interesting about this template are the features which are activated the the ones which are not activated. The following site collection features are enabled:
- SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features
InfoPath Forms Services, Visio Services, Access Services, and Excel Services Application…
- SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure
Libraries, content types, master pages and page layouts and enables page scheduling and other publishing functionality...
-> Needs to be activated otherwise you get an error that a list is missing.
- SharePoint Server Standard Site Collection features
User profiles and search…
The interesting thing here is that the following site features are not enabled:
- SharePoint Server Publishing
- Wiki Page Home Page
I haven’t figured out yet how the activated and deactivated features are related to the templates functionality.

If you want to use a custom design you can use Deploying Branding Solutions for SharePoint 2010 Sites Using Sandboxed Solutions to brand your enterprise wiki.
The enterprise wiki is the second publishing template and only available with SharePoint Server 2010.
It can’t be compared with the team site in SharePoint Foundation 2010 with the Wiki Page Home Page enabled (see comments below).
