Fixes and new features

SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 1 includes cumulative updates from June 2010 to April 2011. Additionally it has the following enhancements and new features:

  • Shallow copy functionality
    Allows you to move a site collection from one content database to another without moving unstructured data (RBS). See the white paper for requirements.
  • Site-level recycle bin 
    Allows you to recover deleted sites and site collections.
  • Improvements to storage management
    Gives you a granular insight into storage allowing you to clean large content on sites.
  • Additional browser support
    IE9 (in IE8 standards mode) and Chrome are now supported
  • Cascading filters for Performance Point services
  • Improved backup / restore functionality for SharePoint Server
  • Support for SQL Server 2011 (Denali)
